We heard from three amazing nonprofits at our first chapter meeting. All members voted on one nonprofit to receive our donation but that decision was difficult as all three nonprofits do amazing, impactful work. We want to share with you the other two nonprofits that we learned about during our November 2019 meeting!
First up is the Community Assistance Center serving Montgomery County. Kathy Rifaat spoke passionately about their mission to provide resources to meet basic needs and improve quality of life for our neighbors in Montgomery County. They achieve this through their client choice food bank, unique resale shop and basic needs/crisis intervention that includes case management. Check out their detailed website to see how you can help them out through volunteering or donations from your home. We so appreciate Kathy coming to our meeting and sharing her passion for the Community Assistance Center.
The other inspiring nonprofit we heard from at our first chapter meeting was the JoyRide Center in Magnolia. Terri Norris spoke passionately about the mission of the JoyRide Center to help people with different abilities find more joy in life through equine-assisted activities and therapies, along with functional/life skills education.
We learned that the JoyRide Center offers Physical Therapy Services for clients that may not be able to afford these services which focus on functional rehabilitative skills such as posture control, motor coordination, gait improvements, communication, cognitive skills and psychosocial activities.
This organization depends highly on volunteers as their services are very personalized, often requiring several volunteers to one client ratio. And the cost to care for the horses is over $400 per month. So reach out to the JoyRide Center if you feel passionately about their inspiring services. Thank you Terri for coming to share your passion with us!
